The app and SCMP website rarely work; lots of dials counting up to 100% but often then shows "headlines" that are months old. What happened to the old one that worked?

Love this paper. I wish I could see what each days cover looks like, like with The New York Times.

I find news pulse a much more convenient way of following SCMP on the iPhone when traveling internationally. The app design is good. I find dealing with ads annoying at startup and the screen bottom when I am already an authenticated paying subscriber - this isnt right. It also crashes occasionally. Fix the ads and the crash and it gets 5 stars!

I wonder if I am doing something wrong? The window is soooo small! It is hard to read the news when you cant enlarge it! Am deleting...

This new app is a poor replacement for the SCMPs original iPad app. The other one had problems, but it always worked. This new version, on the other hand, frequently just stops! Ive had to delete and reinstall several times. That gets it working again — for a little while, then after a while it fails again.

Disappointed in SCMPs decision to have so many obtrusive ads popping up when I just bought an expensive annual subscription to gain access to this app.

After paying handsomely each month for your service, app users should not be forced to suffer through ads every time we click back to the Top Stories section. I understand the importance of an ad revenue stream, but find another way to display them without making your customers sit and wait for the content theyve paid for! Its disrespectful and quite frankly will make me not renew.

It does not work offline, you are constantly subjected to annoying ads (ever hear of infeed ads which blend with content?). I wonder why SCMP does not seems able to get the digital world right... Ps I am a subscriber...

Love SCMP, but this app crashes too often Five stars if issue fixed

Using this app is much better than the mobile site, but its still quite buggy - articles frequently crash the app and pages are slow to load. The typography is also very rough and hard to read. Comment feature works most of the time though which is a nice touch.

This app has been a real disappointment for me. Simply put, it does not work well. There are pop ups that one cannot escape from and poor linking that is slow or just doesnt work. At a time when other major newspapers have working apps, SCMP does not. I am invariably forced to go back to the website (which ironically keeps asking if I would not rather switch to this app). And there is not even an iPad optimized version. I like the newspaper and since I live in the USA reading online is my only option. The subscription is expensive and I expect better.

App itself is just ok. The subscription is unreasonably expensive at HK 137 a month. For them there are no logistics costs for printing and shipping the papers, and the app has ads so I dont understand why you need to pay for a subscription. At least give the user a certain number of free articles per month or give us a free subscription with ads. Unless youre really in love with the paper or need a subscription for class or business. Not worth it. There are better news aps for Asia out there that are free

Over $200 usd for a year subscription??? Thats crazy to read online!!!
